Hello Everyone! My name is Mahleah Lavin, MT-BC.
I began my collegiate academic career at Friends University in Wichita, KS in 2004, where I spent two years majoring in Vocal Performance and minoring in Psychology. After learning about the field of music therapy, I knew that was how I wanted to make a positive impact in the world.
In my undergraduate career at the University of Kansas, I had the experience of working with a variety of populations – adults with intellectual disabilities, older adults in a retirement facility, adolescents in a mental health setting, and a child with autism spectrum disorder.
After completing academic coursework at KU in 2010, I completed a 6-month internship in Miami, FL at United Cerebral Palsy of Miami. While here, I honed my therapy skills while engaging children and adults of varying abilities in group and individual music therapy sessions. I received my Music Therapy degree from the University of Kansas in 2011; later that year I became a board-certified music therapist. Since then, I have continued to grow as a music therapist while providing services within Wichita, KS and surrounding areas.
